NEW & NOTABLE

Click here to review information in the SFIS Blog about innovative features in Campus Solutions and PeopleTools.

Some of these features are already in use, some are available now, and some will become accessible as PeopleTools are upgraded and PeopleSoft bundles are applied.

Here are brief descriptions of these features:

  • Activity Guide: PeopleTools framework that provides a structure to allow the definition of a guided step-by-step task that can be assigned to a user (student or administrative staff) for completion.
  • BI Publisher (formerly XML Publisher or XMLP): Template-based reporting tool that you can use with PeopleSoft to directly take information from the database (generally through PS Query) to author, manage and deliver reports and forms more easily and faster than traditional reporting tools.
  • Common Attribute Framework (CAF): A structured means to extend delivered data without customizing delivered record definitions or creating a bolt-on.  It allows users to add unique fields without customizing or creating a bolt-on.
  • Communication Generation (Comm Gen):  A feature in Campus Solutions which allows you to communicate with constituents through letters and emails.  The process lets you select specific fields from which to extract critical data
  • Milestones:  While Student Milestones are not new, there have been some changes made in the Campus Solutions Bundles.
    • Milestones are non-course related… requirements that a student must complete toward degree progress to graduate – PeopleBooks
  • Population Selection (Pop Select) and Pop Update:
    • Pop Select is a delivered process that allows users to fine tune the selecting of person (and/or organization) IDs in several batch processes.  Its functions include placing and releasing Service Indicators.
    • Pop Update is the ability to update data for a group of people (or organizations) from a list (external file), PS Query, or Equation
  • Program Enrollment and Activity Management:
    • Program Enrollment provides a flexible and open program structure to set up any type of institutional program requirements and to organize enrollment.
    • Activity Management is a results oriented course grading feature that provides the necessary data structures and processes to organize and record student performance using a hierarchical course configuration.
  • Query and Reporting Features: Composite Query, Connected Query, Drilling URL, and Pivot Grid; Reporting Tools.
  • Related Content: Delivered functionality that enables users to link application pages with relevant collaborative content without additional user effort.  It creates opportunities for the user to view or quickly access information that supports or extends a business task.
  • Work Centers: A Work Center allows you to display navigation collections, charts, graphs, tables, reports, and HTML objects to collect functionality, information, and external links all in one place.  Work Center pages can integrate all pages that users need to access in one location.
